Journal Three - Annie Wheeler

To be eccentric means one has a slightly strange or out-of-ordinary behavior.  Some synonyms of eccentric are: freakish, bizarre, odd and abnormal.  I think in society today, the media encourages people to be eccentric.  Sometimes eccentricity can be beneficial and other times it is unnecessary.  Eccentricity can be beneficial in the sense that it brings diversity to a group.  In a group setting an eccentric personality may help solve a problem because of their different perspective on a subject/situation.  Once you meet a person with an eccentric personality you become educated on the fact that not everybody is the same, not everybody thinks or gets tasks done the same way.  Eccentricity can be unnecessary when it comes to the safety of a group.  If a person is behaving in an eccentric way in a crisis this may bring harm to the group and may negatively effect the outcome of the crisis.

I can see myself as an eccentric in the fact that I am a Christian.  Some could say that a practicing Christian is viewed as abnormal or out-of-ordinary.  A true Christian doesn't follow the ways of the world, which may lead people to think that a Christians views are different.  I don't participate in the activities that my peers find pleasurable because it is against my beliefs.

This is an example of what a dinosaur
garden/park would look like with visitors

While reading the profile on Donald Bean I was questioned with are there dinosaur gardens around currently?  I have always had many questions about dinosaurs and their existence on Earth.  So I was excited to try to find a dinosaur garden near central Ohio to visit in the future.  During my search for some answers I found that there are actually plenty of parks in the US, along with many museums that hold dinosaur fossils.  I was most surprised when I found out about the TWO dinosaur parks in Ohio.  Dinosaurs Alive! is an attraction connected to both Kings Island and Cedar Point.  The entrance fee to the attraction is less than $5.  Kings Island is actually the worlds largest animatronic dinosaur park with over 65 life-sized dinosaurs.  A few other activities in the park include interactive consoles to control the dinosaurs movements and a fossil dig.  There are many other dinosaur worlds/parks around the US that I would like to eventually visit!
