The book In the Presence of fear i thought of the movie Fresh. It made me think of Fresh because how the books talks about the economy and in the movie you got family farms trying to make a living. For a example the large group of people grew plants in the city and sold them.
Part Two:
My research topic from the movie Fresh is the mad cow disease. I choose the mad cow disease because I don't know much about the disease. According to WebMD the mad cow diseases is a fatal disease that slowly destroys the brain and spinal cords (central nervous system) in cattle. It is also known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or BSE. People that have been in areas that mad cow is found they can not give blood in the United States or Canada. The reason of the no giving the blood in the United States or Canada is to help prevent the outbreak of the disease.

In high school I had to do a presentation on Mad Cow Disease and it is a scary disease, nothing that I would want! One thing I remember is that the disease actually "eats" a human brain causing it to be like Swiss cheese (spongi-).
ReplyDeletei have never seen a mad cow and but i think when cows run made they become carnivores and eat people.
ReplyDeleteI recall some brain diseases simular to Mad Cow, they were caused by prions, or mis-folded proteins within the brain. The worst thing about them was that they are self-replicating, or that these protiens would mis-fold healthy brain proteins.
ReplyDeleteI surprisingly did not know how mad cow disease effected cattle and I find it extremely interesting, especially since I want to be a Veterinarian. Its also interesting that you can't give blood if you're in an area effected by this disease.
ReplyDeleteI agree that in the presences of fear it made me think of fresh because of the local economy. I knew that mad cow disease existed but never knew it affected there brain and spinal cord.
