Part One: The essay where it talks about local economy was what impacted me the most. I feel like 60% of the reason this one stood out to me was because I re read this while we were watching
Fresh and in that movie they showed farmers selling their crops or meat through an organization called
Good Nature's Family Farms. It showed how if a local economy sells through markets with the things they bring through the table it can do better things for the economy. In this essay he also puts a lot more emphasis on what the average Joe could do to help the economy instead of blaming others and standing by while it happens.

Part Two: If someone were to take the amount of antibiotics that are given to the animals what would the consequences be? As stated in the movie there would be an outcome where they would continuously get super diseases that are stronger and stronger strains of things like strep because the disease and their body would continue to become immune to one another until a disease would come with a stronger strain and try again. "Between 1985 and 2001 antibiotics in animal feed rose over 50%," although some could say putting this much antibiotics into their future food helps save lives, it could in turn produce things such as stronger forms of e-coli or like diseases. I recommend reading through the link posted below to see the effects of antibiotics in animals if you're interested to read more.

The same essay stood out to me too! I agree that if most people focused on the local economies, the economy would do better overall. Its better to give people with less money, money, rather than big companies that have enough money. Your research stood out to me when the pig farmer gave himself a shot om accident and he became very sick. It's very scary that we eat that food. But very good research question.
ReplyDeletewe are indirectly consuming antibiotics everyday. All companies just look for more profit but care less about the quality produce that they supply to their consumers.Good job!
ReplyDeleteLocal economies are the future I believe and this essay could start a movement like mentioned in our last reading assignment.
ReplyDeleteIts crazy to think that we are consuming antibiotics everyday from consuming the product of these animals. It is also scary how you talked about how we can get a super strand of a virius. the more antibiotics the stronger the strand. I cant think about the harm it would do to people. Great post.
