Good information on your presentation. I didn't know much about Shonda Rhimes. Also i did learn some interesting facts about her. I think more time in preparation would helped with know the little things and facts.
ReplyDeleteI liked that when both of you were talking you projected your voice and it was loud enough for everyone to hear. I also was able to enjoy your power point, it had color and lacked the paragraphs that are distracting to the audience.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the second video that you showed, although it backed up all the information that you just told us, it was repeated info. Because of the repeated information it lost my interest.
I thought you guys did a great job! You did a great job on explaining why Rhimes was a visionary and what her goals are. For constructive criticism, I thought your contrast was a little weak. She was a good choice, but what are her visions? her influence? Other than that, great job!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Job! You two seemed well prepared. I have never heard of Shonda Rhimes, I have heard of her T.V. shows. I liked the fact that the events that take place on Grey's Anatomy actually happened somewhere in real life. That alone makes the show more interesting. She seems to be a relentless worker, and a career driven individual. My only critique, is why? What makes her so driven, maybe a little background on her early life may have cleared that up for me. Overall, Amazing Job!
ReplyDeleteLexia and Valerie, you guys did a great job on your presentation on Shonda Rhimes. Before your presentation, I had no idea of who Rhimes was. I learned that Rhimes is a television producer, screenwriter, and author. I also learned that she is the television producer of my favorite T.V. show, Grey’s Anatomy. You guys did a great job on explaining to us her vision of raising the next generation of T.V. producers. I also like how you guys talked about Rhimes’ view on that she isn’t diversifying television but she’s normalizing it. For constructive criticism, I would have like to see more on her impact as a writer. Also, I thought the second video repeated most of what you said on the slide before. I think you could have used that time more wisely. Other than that, great job!
ReplyDeleteI have watched Grey's Anatomy couple of times but I never knew the person behind it. This presentation was really good, one major takeaway from this presentation is Shonda Rhimes vision that everyone should have a chance, irrespective of their gender, her another vision of Normalizing TV and not diversifying it was another good thing to learn. The comparison with Debra Martin was also a good choice. Overall, this presentation was very very good.
ReplyDeleteThe only criticism I had is the video usage, I thought the videos took over 5 minutes of the total presentation time,It would be much better if I get to hear more facts from you guys than watching the videos.
1. This presentation was very descriptive. The theme of realistic ideals was very evident and well structured. I have never seen any of Shonda Rhimes shows but they sound very interesting thanks to this presentation.
ReplyDelete2. My only advice is to maybe elaborate on a few topics more. Just add some depth to some of the things you two mentioned.
This presentation was very thorough in its research. You could tell that Lexia and Valerie both practiced their parts of the presentation a lot. It was smooth, well-rehearsed, and professional. The videos were interesting, and the slides were colorful. However, the slides themselves were a little hard to follow. They seemed a little disorganized. But the presenters were able to pick up the slack and clear up any confusion.
ReplyDeleteI love Shonda Rhimes and think she is an iconic role model for many woman. I really enjoyed how the group talked about she uses African Americans as strong characters in all of her television shows. I watch Grey's Anatomy and can see how she portrays these characteristics throughout the show. But, the presentation could have had more information. I felt as if a lot of information kept being repeated, but I very much enjoyed this presentation and loved learning more about the woman who created my favorite tv show!
ReplyDeleteA lot of background to start out. I think you captured her life and message she wants others to hear. I just would have focused more on the message and not so much on the videos you inserted. This presentation would have been perfect with just the one video.great job....
ReplyDeleteI liked this presentation a lot! I thought the subject was very interesting and I thought they both knew the information very well. I got the feeling that they both cared about this presentation, which is definitely something to be valued. I didn't however, like all of the videos. I thought they kind of took away from the information being presented.
ReplyDeletethe videos worked well to define and fill the concept of the subject. but it was concerning to hear the presentation and then be offered a video which conveys the exact information stated by the presenter just moments ago.
ReplyDeleteI have watched a lot of her shows before without putting together that she was behind all of them. I found that I liked all of her shows that I watched. I thought you gave a lot of background on her and what she has accomplished in her career. I did struggle at time understanding what her vision was exactly. Overall tho I thought you did a good job with your presentation.

ReplyDeleteVery informative. I did not know who she was, however I have heard about Grey's Anatomy and some of the other shows discussed. I found the use of videos to be very enlightening in this presentation. You could have focused the goal of Shonda's vision better. Otherwise, good presentation.
ReplyDeleteI love that I learned how she uses her own vision in her work. The part of the presentation that I liked the most was when you had a picture of all the actors and actresses in one slide. This really showed her vision. Overall, very polished presentation. My one constructive criticism was the second video. It was very long compared to others, and seemed to repeat information. Very good presentation.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched her shows, but she seems very creative and visionary. I like the Idea of having many cultures in the tv shows or many races in the TV shows. That will give the show more meaningful and entertainment. I like the videos you chose for the presentation they were shore and informative.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that Shonda was the woman who directed some of my favorite shows! I liked how much you guys seemed to know about her, I just wish you showed the second video earlier in the slide show because it seemed to repeat some information you already told us.
ReplyDeleteShonda seems like an extraordinary individual who is addressing equality in a smarter approach then many activists because she realizes that television is one of Americans favorite pass times and uses this as a creative platform. I think that both presenters did a solid job at telling the audience why she is a visionary and met the criteria for the project nicely. My constructive criticism for this group would have been to practice a little more before presenting because there was a point during the presentation that became very repetitive before transitioning to another slide.
ReplyDeletevery impressive job in your presentation. I have never heard of her until now. If you would have elaborated more on her vison then the presentation would be fantastic.
