The Tiny-House Subculture
Most people in the past when they go shopping for a house, they have this idea engraved in their mind that bigger is better. They want to buy a massive house with plenty of extra space, extra bedrooms, bathrooms, multiple living rooms, large kitchen, and a huge front yard and backyard.
From 1950 to 2006, the average size of a U.S. household has doubled. But according to the Census, the average size home in the US declined in 2009. Many Americans are now looking for smaller, simpler and more efficient houses. The tiny house is a trend among a unique subculture of people who want to live a simple and easy lifestyle.
The tiny houses vary in size depending on the size of the family and needs of the individual. Typically, they are between 100 and 130 square feet, about the size of a covered wagon. One plus of living in a tiny house is the cost. You don’t have to pay the mortgage and you save a lot of money on monthly bills. Living in a tiny house you can park your house somewhere free where you can avoid paying property taxes or even rent. The expenses of living in a tiny house are more affordable. Living in a tiny house is better for the environment, tiny houses use less gas, electricity, energy, and water.
Living in a tiny house is something you either love or hate. There many ups and downs living in a tiny house. First, living in a tiny-house provides a unique and different lifestyle. By living in a tiny-house you give up all the luxuries and extra options that you would have with a larger house. You live a simple life, living with the bare minimum with no extra baggage. No more extra stuff like a closet full of clothing, a variety of food and drinks and extra commodities.
"If one’s life is simple, contentment has to come. Simplicity is extremely important for happiness. Having few desires, feeling satisfied with what you have, is very vital: satisfaction with just enough food, clothing, and shelter to protect yourself from the elements." -The Dalai Lama
